Below are COMEBACK’s methodology and therapy:

Choice Theory/ Reality Therapy

Choice theory in psychology is a theory that explains human behaviour as driven by internal motivations and the desire to satisfy five basic needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun. It emphasizes personal responsibility and the idea that we choose our actions to fulfill these needs, aiming to improve relationships and overall well-being.

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-focused treatment that helps individuals recognise and change negative thoughts and behaviours. By linking thoughts, emotions, and actions, CBT enables healthier coping, better emotional control, and overcoming issues like anxiety, depression, and stress. It is effective for many mental health conditions, encouraging lasting positive change and growth.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a psychological approach that helps individuals accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling overwhelmed by them. It encourages mindfulness and commitment to personal values, promoting psychological flexibility and meaningful life changes.

NeuroFeedback Therapy

Neurofeedback therapy is a noninvasive, drug-free treatment proven effective for disorders like ADHD. It uses neurofeedback to train the brain toward desired behaviors, such as reducing game dependency. Clients use a device that monitors brain activity while doing cognitive tasks that activate target brain regions. Repeated sessions form new neural pathways that promote better focus and impulse control. Thus, neurofeedback helps reshape the brains of game-dependent individuals for improved mastery in gaming and life.

What can I do if my child refuses therapy?

The best people to support your child are family members. If your child refuses therapy, you can schedule a consultation with our psychologists to learn how to effectively help and support your child.

How Long Does Therapy Last?

Each therapy session is scheduled for one hour. The psychologist may extend the session only if necessary. If consultation with parents or the entire family is required, the session may go beyond one hour. Please note that additional fees apply for any extended time.

How many sessions of consultations will my child need?

The level of support needed varies based on the situation. If the issue is solely game dependency without other underlying factors, we will gradually reduce the frequency of consultations and eventually conclude them within a reasonable timeframe when goals are met.

Why Is It So Difficult For Me As A Parent To Get My Child To Stop Gaming Or To Game Less?

At COMEBACK, we focus on uncovering the root cause behind undesirable behavior. Often, the root cause is not immediately visible, and your child may be unaware of it as well. Identifying and addressing this underlying factor takes time but is essential. Once the driving cause is resolved, positive behavior emerges more naturally, with significantly less pressure and stress.

Do You Work With The School And The School Counsellor?

Students spend a large portion of the day in school. Thus school is also an important aspect of our clients that we journey with our clients. Our psychologists work closely with the school and school counsellor to overcome the various challenges together with the family.

Can My Child get consultation If he/she Does Not Go Out Of The House At All?

Yes it is possible, but it will require strong collaboration with the family. We offer house visits, particularly for clients who have become physically isolated. The process demands a great deal of patience and compassion from family members, and therapy may take time before noticeable progress is achieved.
